Time-sensitive: If you received a summons, complaint, hearing notice, or other court paper, seek help promptly. Court response requirements can be short.

Your first steps

1

Identify the document

Write down its exact title, every date shown, when and how you received it, and whether it came from the landlord, a process server, or the court.

2

Save the full record

Keep the lease, payment proof, notices, envelopes, messages, photographs, and every page of any court filing together.

3

Check the court record

Use the clerk of court for the county where the rental is located to see whether an eviction case has actually been filed.

4

Do not rely on a generic deadline

Florida procedure can depend on the document and claim. Read the papers and current official instructions rather than assuming an online summary applies.

02

Official Florida resources

Open these primary sources for the current rule, form, or process. Local court procedures can vary by county.
