Time-sensitive: FloridaCommerce says a claim becomes effective the Sunday of the week you apply. Determination and appeal notices can contain short deadlines, so open messages promptly.

Your first steps

1

Prepare before applying

Gather identity information and details for each employer from the last 18 months, including dates worked, earnings, and the reason work ended.

2

Use the official system

Create or access the Reconnect account through FloridaCommerce and complete the required identity-verification process.

3

Keep requesting benefits

Follow instructions to request benefits every two weeks, report work and earnings, and respond to fact-finding even while a claim is under review.

4

Read determinations carefully

If you disagree, follow the appeal instructions and date shown on the determination. Continue requesting benefits if you remain unemployed.
